Mended

On August 3, 2004, my life changed forever! My twin sons were born into the world at 4:08am and 4:10 am. Judah, the oldest by two minutes, was born with a chronic medical condition called Sturge Weber Syndrome. This very rare syndrome, not genetically linked and with no explanations as to why it occurs, comes with a long list of complications of which I won't get into here. It requires a multi-disciplinary approach, thus causing us to see a host of doctors, all of whom are trying to help us priortize what to tackle first re: Judah's condition.

I will say that for all that could potentially take place within someone with SWS, we have been relatively fortunate. God has been merciful to us for we enjoy a relatively normal life with Judah.

In addition to the many doctor's visits and various prescriptions needed for Judah, I have had numerous health concerns over the last year as well. Nursing the boys was a challenge, to say the least. And accompanied with it was a lot of pain that no one could really explain and no remedy ever cured other than finally giving up nursing when the boys were 6 months. In addition to my nursing woes, I have had numerous infections, the details of which I will spare you. I myself have seen several specialists who are still trying to figure out what's wrong with me and how to fix me. :)

Through all of this, the truths in a song by one of my favorite musical duos, Watermark, entitled Mended has been such a comfort to me. I want to write out the words for you here. May you be encouraged by the truth that our Creator knows us inside and out, every physical need we have and more importantly, every spiritual need we have! Thank you, Lord, that You have provided the remedy for our EVERY need through the cross of Jesus Christ, your one and only Son. (John 3:16)

You repair all that we have torn apart
And you unveil a new beginning in our hearts
And we stand grateful for all that has been left behind and all that goes before us

Chorus:
You've got all things suspended,

All things connected,
Nothing was forgotten,
'Cause Your love is perfect...
You are our Healer,
You know what's broken,
And we're not a mystery to You, to You

We will dance as You restore the wasted years
And You will sing over all our coming fears
And we'll stand grateful for all that has been left behind and all that goes before us...

Bridge:
Lord, you mend the breech,
You break every fetter,
You give us Your best,
For what we thought was better...
And You are to be praised
You are to be praised..
You've got all things suspended,

All things connected
Nothing was forgotten
'Cause Your love is perfect
You are our Healer
You know what's broken
And we're not a mystery to You, to You
Mender of the breech...

How I love that song too, Briana, and it's definately ministered to me specifically during a certain personal trial, and still does. Thank you for reminding that He mends all we've torn apart.

Thanks, Briana. On my right ring finger I weara heart-shaped amethyst I call my Ebenezer Stone. It reminds me not only of Joel's birth on Feb. 14, 2002, but of how the Body of Christ ministered to me after I'd torn all my pelvic ligaments that day. I am a witness of supernatural healing of the SI joints six months later. I will be praying that if doctors don't find a cure, then God will do for you what He alone did for me.

Ebenezer means: 'thus far hath the Lord helped us.'
